Presentation of the proposed Rehabilitation
of Central Avenue from Brook Road to Maple Street project.
The proposed project consists of the
rehabilitation of Central Avenue from Brook Road to Maple
Street. The project includes full-depth roadway reclamation,
cold planning and overlay, drainage improvements, signs, and
pavement markings. Also included is the creation of a two-way
multi-use path along the east side of the road and connecting to
the Lower Neponset River Trail and to the Turners Pond Path to
the Glover School.

Association for our annual holiday toy drive collection.
Bring a new unwrapped toy, then go on a
guided or self-guided mountain bike ride or ranger-led hike. All
toys will be donated to Interfaith Social Services which help
families in need during the holidays.
Gifts for children ages 11-16 are most
needed and appreciated.

Mother Brook Ride with Doug Mink Sunday, November 8 at 1 PM
MassBike leads Boston Natural Areas Network and the Friends of
Stony Brook Reservation on a tour of the entire length of the Mother
Brook, which connects the Neponset River to the Charles River. See
old mills and learn some early colonial history. We’ll check out
progress on construction of the new Neponset Trail, too. Led by Doug
Mink, BNAN Board Member. Helmets required. For more info contact

Government Center, Boston
Watch the excitement as pro racers compete for thousands of
dollars worth of prizes on a tight criterium race course in downtown
Boston. Other events include a kids race and post-race
concert.

Boston's Hub on Wheels ride
Government Center, Boston
This fundraising tour offers rides of different lengths, travels
through Boston's neighborhoods (and part of Milton), and raises
money to support technology resources for Boston schoolchildren.
Fundraising requirements for this ride are very modest.

Blue Hills Reservation
Sundays, June 21 - August 30
The Department of Conservation and Recreation will be closing
Chicatawbut Road from Randolph Ave. to Willard Street on Sundays
from June 21 through August 30 to promote public recreation.
Designed to emulate the program that closes Storrow Drive in
Cambridge on Sundays, this will open up the road to bicycling,
jogging and other recreational activities.
Visitors are encouraged to park in the lot at Shea Rink on
Willard Street in Quincy, or at the small lot at the intersection of
Randolph Ave. and Chicatawbut Road.
Note that mountain biking is allowed on the west side of the
reservation, not east of Randolph Ave (route 28). Only on-road
bicycling is permitted east of route 28. Stop at the Rangers
Office on Hillside Street for biking or hiking maps.

Ride in to work with an experienced cycling guide!

Talk about a grand entrance—you and a convoy of your fellow bikers
all escorted into the city by experienced cycling guides. Really,
how could you pass that up?
What’s more, at City Hall Plaza you can enjoy a free breakfast
burrito and yogurt parfait courtesy of Boloco, tour the Bike Expo
featuring tons of great gear from local bike shops all while
listening to WZLX live. And still get to work on time.
That’s the deal on Bike Fridays.
Convoys leave at 6:45AM from various locations in and around Boston
including Newton, Brookline, Belmont, Cambridge, Lexington,
Arlington, Somerville, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury,
Roslindale, Allston, Brighton and many more. You arrive, non-stop,
at City Hall Plaza by 8:15.

Tour de Farms
August 1
Part of the MassBike Spin Series, visit urban farms in Roxbury and
Dorchester, community farms in the Blue Hills, Waltham, and Newton,
and Boston’s oldest commercial farm. You’ll also get a chance to
sample fresh, locally grown food, learn of the benefits of local
agriculture, and how you can actively support these efforts.
Ride either the 15-mile, Boston Urban Farm Loop, or 40-mile,
Community Farm Loop. Rain or Shine. Both rides will be led by
experienced riders and there will be technical support in the case
of flat tires - but please be sure to bring extra tubes and tools!
There is a $10 registration fee.

Blue Hills Cycling Club

The Blue Hills Classic offers local racers the
opportunity to compete on a challenging 7 mile, rolling rural course
for a generous prize pool just a few minutes from Boston. Raced

England spring race calendar.

The Milton Bike Committee will be holding
its annual Used Bike Sale on May 16 & 17. The event will
coincide with the DPW Open House event on the 16th.
This is a fantastic opportunity for local
families to buy used bikes. With over a hundred bikes to choose
from, why pay full price when kids will outgrow them long before
they wear out???
Some bikes can be found for adults, too -
cruisers, classic road bikes, mountain bikes and more. Stop by
early for the best selection.
All bikes are inspected and priced
according to condition. Proceeds go to fund the improvement and
development of bicycling resources around the town (bike racks,
safety training for children, bike lanes and paths, and more).
Pay with cash or check.

Challenge bike ride
The Best Buddies Challenge travels from Boston through Quincy and
on down the South Shore to Hyannisport. This fundraising ride
supports programs for people with intellectual disabilities.
It is a popular and well-organized ride, but it requires significant
fundraising.

everyone. The proceeds from this fundraising ride will go to
supporting Bikes Not Bombs' programs to supply used bicycles to

Out
Milton Police Department
The 25th Annual National Night Out, a unique crime
prevention event, is scheduled for Wednesday, August 6.
Here in Milton, the event will take place between 5:30
and 9:00 PM at the police station, and it is open to
everyone.
The Police Department has announced that as part of a
public safety initiative, they will be offering over a
hundred free bicycle helmets for children (sizes
toddler, small, medium, and medium/large).

Randolph Avenue Stop by the DPW Yard on Saturday - Bring
the kids and check out the DPW heavy equipment, enjoy hot
dogs and other treats, and browse through the selection of
used bikes. Donate any unused bikes on Friday, May 16 from
4 PM to 6:30 PM at the Cunningham Park Building (75 Edge
Hill Road) OR to the Department of Public Works (Randolph
Ave.) Saturday morning, 8:30 to 10 am. The bike sale will
offer bikes of all sizes and styles for children and adults
of all ages... Some of the bikes are donated, others
were abandoned around town and recovered by the police
department. Stop by and see what might suit you best,
and give a bike a good home. Proceeds go to making
Milton a more bicycle and pedestrian-friendly town (more
details on the "Projects" page).
The bike sale will run Saturday 10-4 and Sunday 1-4.
Stop by early for the best selection! Any bicycles that
are left afterward will be donated to
Bikes Not Bombs,
a Jamaica Plain organization that recycles and offers bikes
locally and overseas to the poor or disadvantaged.

This group bike ride will start at the end of the Neponset
River Greenway and head south through the Fowl Meadow
section of Blue Hills into Canton, ending with beautiful
views from The Trustees of Reservations’ Signal Hill
Reservation. The ride is a short 10 miles, with the first
few miles off-road, so hybrid or mountain bikes are
recommended. Helmets are required. Reservations suggested.

Spring Neponset Greenway Bicycle Tour
Meet at Paul’s Bridge Parking Lot, Neponset Valley Pkwy. & Brush
Hill Rd., Milton
Join us for this spring tradition, riding the future sections of the
greenway to the established path. We will bike from Paul’s Bridge in
Hyde Park, where the Neponset meets Blue Hills, to Victory Road Park
in Dorchester, just past the current end of the Greenway, and back.
The trip will be 15 miles long and fairly flat. We’ll stop a few
times to learn about the local area from BNAN board member and
cycling enthusiast, Doug Mink, and eat a bit of chocolate at
Phillips Candy House. Meet at the small parking lot by Paul’s
Bridge, Neponset Valley Parkway and Brush Hill Road, Milton.
